Online Website Editing System

Getting Started

To use any content management system you need to understand the basic structure of your website. It's not complicated and when we construct your website and install Simple Edit we supply you with an explanatory diagram. Our demonstration site has only three pages and one folder that you need be concerned with.

Page Names: All pages are given a file name - in this case we're using HTML files.

home_page.html

about.html

our_interiors.html

You may edit any of these pages - we suggest you start at the Home Page. You select this from the editor's drop down menu. View Menu.

Editing Text: Place your cursor where you want to begin editing and start typing. Remember like any word processor, if you have the Insert Key toggled, your text will be inserted at the point of editing and the remainder of the text will shuffle to the right. If you have your Delete Key toggled, you will overwrite existing text.

Photo Folder: All photos are stored in a separate folder named "Images". When selecting photos the Editor will display a browse menu that you use to navigate to the location where the photos are stored. You will also be given an option to browse to a location on your own computer and upload a new image to the images folder. This "file upload" function has been disabled in the demonstration version, however this is enabled on users' sites to allow editors to upload new images.

When finished editing you can preview your work by clicking the "Preview" button. This will open a new window and present the website in your browser. If satisfied, click on the "save" button to permanently save your changes. If not you can choose the "return to edit" function and continue editing.

Note: In this demonstration version the "save" function will take you through the procedure but will not actually save your changes. When you log out, the original web page will be restored.

That's all you need to know to begin editing - the rest you can learn as you go. You can now proceed direct to the Website Editor and login

.
